Collision Technician

Propelled by Randall Reilly is hiring for a well established client in the body shop in Knoxville, TN. As a Collision Technician you will play a crucial role in restoring vehicles to their pre-accident condition, adhering to factory and dealership specifications. Utilizing a combination of hand tools, power tools, and your expertise, you'll perform repairs on damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles. Additionally, you will be responsible for dealer prep work, ensuring vehicles are ready for sale or delivery to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stay abreast of the latest repair methods and techniques for vehicles serviced by the dealership.
- Assess damaged vehicles and provide accurate repair cost estimates as requested.
- Follow factory and dealership procedures meticulously, especially when handling warranty work.
- Conduct disassembly of vehicles by removing upholstery, accessories, electrical components, and trim to access damaged areas.
- Utilize tools such as dolly blocks, hammers, and welding equipment to repair dents, replace damaged parts, and straighten frames.
- Apply body filler, file, grind, and sand repaired surfaces to achieve smooth finishes.
- Perform refinishing using paint spray guns and ensure alignment of headlights, wheels, and brake systems.
- Prepare paint surfaces meticulously following body repairs to achieve seamless integration.
- Address mechanical issues by repairing or replacing defective parts as necessary.
- Maintain familiarity with technical bulletins, service manuals, and dealership service publications.
- Actively participate in dealership service training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Consistently deliver high-quality work and complete jobs efficiently within established flat rate labor guidelines.
- Plan and execute repairs in the most efficient manner while ensuring proper parts management.
- Accurately document work performed and causes of failure on repair orders.
- Properly store and tag all warranty parts for future reference.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read and understand instructions and technical information.
- Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle body repair processes and techniques.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Proficiency in interpreting vendor catalogs for parts identification.
- Previous experience as a vehicle body repairer or apprentice.
- Approval by the dealer’s insurance company.
Work Requirements:
- Physically demanding role requiring standing for extended periods (6-8 hours per shift).
- Ability to lift parts weighing up to 70 pounds.
- Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and various materials (hazardous and nonhazardous).
- Mandatory use of dealership uniform, goggles (when under vehicles, welding, or in potential eye hazard areas), and mask (when sanding).
