Automotive Service Technician

As a vital part of their service department, the General Service Technician will perform repair and maintenance work on vehicles with accuracy and adherence to dealership and factory standards.

Position Purpose: The General Service Technician is responsible for executing vehicle repair and maintenance tasks as assigned. This role involves diagnosing malfunctions, performing repairs, and ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards. Additionally, the technician will oversee the work of apprentice technicians, ensuring their development and adherence to best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Receives repair orders and executes work with efficiency and precision.
• Diagnoses vehicle malfunctions and performs necessary repairs.
• Coordinates with the parts department to procure required components.
• Conducts additional safety and service inspections as necessary.
• Communicates effectively with service advisors regarding work status and additional needs.
• Documents all work performed and maintains required records.
• Road-tests vehicles to ensure quality of repairs.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to interpret instructions and technical information.
• ASE certification preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Manual dexterity and good judgment.

Work Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Comfort with various physical movements such as stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
• Exposure to typical automotive shop elements including noise, vibration, and chemicals.
• Willingness to wear dealership-provided uniform and safety gear.
